The cost of all events in the social program are included with package options A and C however as these events are ticketed, payment of the applicable reservation fee is required.

Welcome reception

Join us for an informal cocktail reception as we welcome you to Melbourne, your home for the next week. Experience the buzz of meeting friends and colleagues who have gathered from around the world. If you are a first timer you will go away feeling energised and
enthused about the week to come.

Home visit

Consistently ranked as the most popular congress social activity, the home visit provides international participants with the opportunity to visit the home of a local host and to experience first-hand the life and customs of Australians at home. Spend an unforgettable evening enjoying an Aussie meal before leaving with new friendships and memories to last a lifetime.

Technical excursion – school visit

Your host organisation, Home Economics Victoria, has been supporting home economics educators for more than 50 years and has an extensive membership base of teachers and schools. Our teachers and schools are eager to host a morning visit for you to see classes in action and to experience home economics education Aussie style.

Banquet

The pinnacle of congress is undoubtedly the banquet or gala dinner which brings us all together for one final congress experience. As we draw Congress 2012 to a close, be part of the largest gathering of home economics professionals ever in Australia. Enjoy a meal experience which challenges traditional venue catering by producing in-house menus using the freshest seasonal and local produce matched with hand-selected regional wines, offering a far from conventional approach to food and wine.

Colonial Tramcar Restaurant

Trams in Melbourne are a major form of public transport and Melbourne is home to the largest tram network in the world. Dining in Melbourne can be a fabulous experience especially aboard the historical fleet which has become known as the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. We have exclusively booked these restaurants on wheels’ for you to enjoy a three-course meal and drink the very best of Australian wines as you cruise the city streets of Melbourne. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
