Home visits

Friday, 11 June 2010 07:40

Those who have attended an IFHE World Congress before will be aware that home visits are a unique and extremely popular part of the program. Small groups of international visitors will be welcomed into Aussie homes for an evening meal and to experience local hospitality.

Home visits will be open only to overseas visitors to Australia. You will need to indicate your intention to participate in a home visit when you register for congress. A small reservation fee applies.

Hosting a home visit

The home visit is a unique, two-way cultural experience where hosts can have a fun evening with overseas colleagues. The idea is to provide a warm Melbournian welcome over a typical Australian food experience (either traditional or multicultural). This may be a buffet, sit-down dinner, barbecue or whatever you feel comfortable providing. By the end of the evening, visitors will have a snapshot of Australian life and you will have been an important part of the first IFHE congress to be held in our region.

To register your  interest in hosting or assisting with home visits fill in the form that can be downloaded here and send it to Home Economics Victoria 605/198 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands Victoria 3008.
