Call for abstracts
NEW: Following the close of abstract submissions on 15 October 2011, all abstracts have been reviewed with the lead author receiving email notification in mid-December 2011. It is the responsibility of the lead author to advise any co-authors about the status of the abstract. More than 600 abstracts were received. All successful submissions require the presenter/s to register for Congress by 31 March 2012.
An overview of all accepted proposals, with lead authors, presentation type and titles listed is now available.
It is important that all presenters familiarise themselves with the presentation guidelines. These guidelines will provide additional information for all types of presentations.

Question: How many abstracts can I submit?
Answer: As lead author you can submit two abstracts for individual papers plus one abstract for International collaboration.
Question: Do I need to be an IFHE member to submit an abstract?
Answer: No, anyone can submit an abstract.
Question: How are abstracts selected?
Answer: Abstracts are selected on the basis of merit and relevance to the field of home economics and to the Congress theme.
Question: What is the International collaboration category?
Answer: This type of session provides researchers with a five-minute time-slot to share their research proposals and source other researchers to work with.
Question: How do I submit an abstract?
Answer: The only way to submit an abstract for IFHE Congress 2012 is via the Congress website at www.ifhe2012.org using the online submission form.
Question: Can I modify my abstract after submission?
Answer: Yes, once you submit your abstract you will receive an email and password allowing you access to modify your abstract until the closing date of 15 October 2011.
Question: Who should submit the abstract for a symposium?
Answer: The abstract for a symposium proposal needs to be submitted by the proposed symposium chair (as lead author) with all other presenters listed as co-authors.
Question: What is the required format for poster presentations?
Answer: Posters are recommended to be in digital format however hard copy formats will be also be provided for.
Question: What constitutes an exhibit?
Answer: An exhibit is anything three-dimensional which showcases best practice in the field of home economics including textiles and culinary arts.
Question: What is the deadline for submitting abstracts?
Answer: 15 October 2011.
Question: When will I know if my abstract has been accepted?
Answer: Notification of acceptance is 15 December 2011. This allows adequate time for those people requiring a Visa and to register by the early-bird date of 31 March 2012.
